Seed Saving Project
The Seed Saving project goal is to improve seed sovereignty in the region as well as to share seed saving knowledge with the community. The project aims to create community access to seed saving information, educational materials, and hands-on activities including workshops based at UBC Farm. The project also aims to create population of plants adapted to UBC specific climate condition as well as provide seeds for planting.
As a result of this project, a document on local seed saving will be produced and made available to the community. The information and education materials will be provided to those interested, through various UBC Farm retail outlets, such as the weekly Farm Market. Hands-on opportunity for interested students to learn about seed saving practices will also be available. In the long term, the project aims to be included in the ongoing operation of UBC Farm, which will create ongoing engagement opportunities for the community.
