Digital Waste Management System

During our eight month project, we have learned many things about engineering. The pictures above are one part of our project. The left part of the device is the scale indicator which is necessary to interface with the scale and to the right of the device which we have designed to control the overall system. We did not build a stand so we designed the bracket to fit on to a bin so users can use an empty bin as a stand. A design like this has taught us how to work about the problem.

The picture above is the scale we purchased for our project. It also came with the component that is left of the device in the other picture.
All of our time on this project has been spent designing and deciding on the components for our project. We have spent many hours designing the control system of our project. This control system implemented by our controller on the right side of the device is to allow the user to input the settings such as building number and waste type. The building number indicates the specific building the waste bin has come from such as the different buildings from a residence location. The waste type tells us what type of waste the bin is. All this is recorded as well as the weight of the bin itself. The controller outputs a formatted data for this information.
As mentioned before, we have been able to demonstrate to other people our project during the design celebration. Many people have been interested and asked about the project. We have simply explained our project to them and they have understood how our project works and its purpose.
